What they Don't Tell You

No one truly prepares you for your twenties.  I am not saying that life has been awful  there have been so many wonderful blessings, but no one tells you how hard "Real Life" is going to be.  We are burped out of a nice and neat college bubble where our biggest concerns are what club meetings you have, what your costume is for the next social, and eventually where you are going to work post college?  Everyone raves about their twenties, then why are their so many that would redo them?

Exhibit A: No one tells you how hard it is to make friends post graduation.  I may have a skewed view as I have picked up and moved 3 times (Georgia to Indiana, Indiana to Mississippi, Mississippi to North Carolina) since I walked across the stage at graduation. But seriously people while in college we are all there to make friends and build relationships with people, (remember looking for people on Facebook at the bar or looking up the latest and greatest person in the Greek directory).  Greek Life handed you phone numbers!!!  So where do you find these friendships when your environment changes?

1. The Gym.....seems like a good idea, but let's be honest earbuds and friendships do not go hand in hand.

2. Church....has any one looked around lately (feel free to correct me if I am wrong), but how many people have seen an abundance of twenty somethings  at church that aren't married or have children? Based on my experience young adult groups=people still college and singles=divorced or widowed support groups (again I completely validate the need for these groups but they were not for me)

3.Work....yes for many this is a probable source, but I don't know about y'all but corporate America is aging, while it is not that I don't value my relationships with my more seasoned peers we are in a different place in life.

4. A Bar...how many times is it really a good idea to go to a bar by yourself? Need I say more?

5. I have to give full credit to my parents on this one and this is where I have found my best friends as adults.......Tennis.  A great lifetime sport that gives you a competitive spirit and a team environment.

Where do you meet people?

With Love from the Sorority House Miss Mandamoo XOXO
